White smoke at startup
I just bought and 84 with a 22r in it and is smokes white smoke at start up, the coolant dissappears also when it is running. Head Gasket blown on intake side?

That's what my truck did. Coolant is being burned off inside the exhaust system, thus creating steam. Go smell the white smoke and stick your hand up to it and it should feel humid (if its coolant).
Check your oil cap and dipstick for mixed coolant and oil. You can tell because the oil will begin looking like milk. Once you've verified that the headgasket is leaking, it is mandatory that you postpone driving the truck. Over time, water finds its way into the cylinders and atop the pistons. What's wrong with this? Well, a 4-stroke motor has a compression stroke, right? Well, water doesn't compress... so something has to give (i.e. connecting rod). |
