transfercase full of "slime"

i had slop in my transmission and transfer case shifters, so i put in the marlin crawler poly bushings. but when i changed out the transfer case bushing i noticed my transfer case was full of "slime." how do i go about flushing it out??

drain and fill several times

should i lock it in 4 for a little bit after each time i fill it to knock some of the sludge loose?

drain, fill drive a few hundred miles and do it again and again till it clears up. Photo? Almost sounds like you got water in the case, which means it's only gonna happen again.

I dont have a camera right now. but when i stuck my finger in it, it was literally like slime. but i just recently bought the truck and have been realizing how much the previous owner "abused" the truck. It dont leak any oil so the only place i can imagine water is getting in is around the "cover" where the shift lever goes in. any other ideas?
