im getting near the end of my rebuild assembly and am getting my butt kicked by the throw out bearing.
I removed the old one from the carrier housing and beat a new one in. I removed the fork, cleaned and regreased it. Upon reinstallation I cannot get the clips on the fork to stay on the carrier hub of the throw out bearing. I can get them on the tabs of the hub but within a few cycles of the fork, they pop off of the hub.
Any insights on what I did wrong? I cannot find any good pictures of the assembly and the fsm isn’t much help on this one. Maybe I pressed the bearing too far into the hub? Are the clips facing the wrong way (doubtful, I payed attention to that)?
The fork goes behind the ears of the collar for the throw out bearing. The clips simply allow the bearing to come back with the fork when you let off the clutch pedal. You do not have the fork in the right position. You need to slide the fork into the bellhousing a little farther.
The way you have it will never in a thousand years work.
Pretty sure the fork needs to be closer to the hub there. Meaning the fork tines need to be pushing directly forward on those little ears on the hub when the clutch slave pushes on the fork. From what I see in your picture, the clips are taking the full force of pushing the hub forward. The clips are only really there to hold the hub to the fork upon release of the clutch. I almost want to say your fork is not quite sitting on the little pivot ball correctly.
