Suspension Comparison
I don't even own a 4Runner yet, but am in the market to buy one over the summer. I like to have a plan when going into things so I am trying to figure out which suspension kit is best.
It will be a first generation 4Runner, probably 1988 or 1989. It will be used mostly for the street with occasional offroading (nothing too extreme). I have come across kits from Superlift, Skyjacker, Pro Comp, TuffCountry, and TrailMaster that are all priced very similar but I have no idea which companies have good reputations. It seems as though the Skyjacker kit is the most complete but I could be wrong. Looking for a 4 inch lift and I don't really like the idea of blocks in the rear (really no reason, just seems like leaf replacements would be better performance and more reliable). I did a search, but no real comparisons between different manufacturers. It seems like the Pro Comp kit is used a lot by guys around this forum, but I would be interested to know about the other kits. Thanks for your help! |
all-pro and marlincrawler have really good kits, with SAS (solid axle swaps), but they are a little pricey...I think I am going to get one of these because they are very very complete...every nut and bolt complete.

I looked at those SAS kits, but I really don't feel the need for such an extreme project. If I go offroad with this, it won't be anywhere that I would need so much travel.
I would like to stick with the IFS and see what kits are best for this setup. Thanks for the reply though! |
Sorry Moderators, I just realized that I posted this in the 84-85 section when I meant to put it in the 86-95 section.
