sr5 dashboard clock

so i got a digital clock out of my bothers 4runner that bolts right onto the dash. looking at it, it has 4 wires on it. im assuming that red is power and black is ground, duh. the other wires are green and white i think. one of them has to be a power to ignition, one has to be constant, one had to be ground. but i have no idea which ones are which and what the 4th wire runs to. anybody know?

if the dimmer isnt plugged in would it work and be on full brightness or be on the lowest brightness, or even show up at all

Feel around behind the clock opening. All wiring harnesses have a clock plug. It may be taped down to main harness trunk.

if you open up the dash clock, just unclip the sides, it is labeled inside the 4 male connectors.

yea its already wired for the clock ,because alot of em where dealer installed items its ther e behind the ashtray and radio somewhere pull off that center cover and look for it .

i couldnt find it so i just made/ran my own wires in. after playing with it for 10 minutes with aligatorclips i have the offical results:
green wire= dimmer
white wire= ground
red wire= ignition power
black wire= constant power

got it all hooked up and it looks sweet :)

Good job!
But just for the record, you should avoid using the multiple-choice alligator clip method of testing with anything electronic - this quite frequently releases the magic smoke from it and it never works again.

what do you mean? that it will blow/fry things up?
