Shock Question

I have 6" of total lift. Springs and shackles. I am still using the stock shock mountings. Can I run 14" shocks or would a different size work best?

What kind of suspension do you have? What year? IFS or solid front? Year doesn't really matter but if you want flex then go as long as possible without bottoming and destroying the shock. If you have a straight axle up front you can easily move your upper shock mount up as far as you're willing to cut into the engine compartment or just below the inner fender. That will give you lots of travel. If you use custom bump stops you can have max down travel and control the uptravel.

Show us what you end up doing.

Good luck.

What you need to do is measure the distance from the upper shock mounts to lower shock mounts at full compression and full extension, That will tell you which size shocks you can run.

EDIT: desertcamper, Its in 84-85 so im gonna guess hes got a SFA

Good luck.

My truck is a 1985 4runner. Right now I have a pro comp 3" lift that I am going to be replacing with old man emu leaf springs. I still have the stock shock position although I was thinking of getting some shock hoops.

I'd have done that if I knew better at the time. The stock location is a bit limiting.
Hoop it.

I bought the Downey heavy duty double shock kit a while ago but don't think I'll ever use it as it only doubles the shock mounts without giving any additional shock length.

I was looking at the shock hoops from all pro. Any comments on those?

The allpro ones look to be made of good material.
I live right by them, So im kinda biased, But I feel they make a great product !!
