shift rail modifications for duals and 4.7's

I figured I would ask before assuming anything, but TG says if your shift rail looks like that as in the photo then you need to cut it. Opposed to what though? I don't want to over look something and chop my shift rails for nothing. I would assume there is just excess shaft that would get in the way of a dual and 4.7 setup. Also, in the photos their second shift rail doesn't look like mine. Do my other rails need modified as well then? I've got a photo of what the install is stating about the first rail. There is no mention about the second. It seems that their shift rails sit "flush", depending on position, with case. That would be impossible with the other rail that I have. Take a look and let me know.

Yep. If you don't cut the excess off it will cause an interference.

What about the shift rod on the right? You see how it has the section on the end, I would figure that that would be the same issue as well. Do both need "trimming"? If so, would it be simply cutting off that extra section on the shift right on the right in the photo? The original one described in the directions is simple now, just not sure on the second. Thanks for the help.

It has been a while, but I believe i cut it off. Just take a look at how it all goes together and then make sure that still have enough rail for it to shift and then make the cuts as necessary.
