rough ride
i have an 85 straight axle with a 3 inch rough country lift and 2 inch lift shackles and it does okay on the road but when i go off road or in a field i cant stand to get out of 1st gear in 4low or other wise it beats the crap out of me i no its a straight axle but is there anything to help it?
thanks ahead of time |
rough country has a rep for having a rough ride...i know 4 people with them in thier rigs.2 Jeeps, and 2 toys, they are very rough rides

I'm not sure this is possible with these particular springs, but you may want to remove a leaf if it's too harsh.

which kit would give a better ride quality? and a little more flex?
|
Pro Comp has a good kit, or Marlin, Trail Gear, All Pro all make great suspension kits. I currently run 3'' procomp lift in the front and 4'' in the rear (4runner top is heavy) and on the street it is bumpy because I have really poor shackle angle right now. On the trail, I run 10 psi and it isn't bumpy at all.

..as a data point, we just put a TG 5" rear spring kit under my buddys 94 4runner. Cut out all the factory 4-link junk (he trashed the whole rear suspension) and swapped in the TG kit, and it seems to be very flexy and soft.
Good luck, C |
i have another question does the stock front leaf springs have more or less leafs than the rear and also would stock springs have more flex and better ride than this rough county lift i have? thanks again.

Just a thought but did you put the shocks on the right way? They have to be installed the right way or the valving messes up and the shock may not be doing anything at all...
|
well on the front it has to go on only 1 way i take it because the top has the thread and the bottom just has the opening for the bolt to go through
