Re-jetting for Headers?

Does the installation of headers on a 22R require re-jetting the carbs?
Edit: This is for a completely stock 22R with smog, not California

I did some searching on this and haven't found much. I have a 1985 Toyota Pickup DLX Long bed 22R 5spd and am looking to install an aftermarket header. From the posts I have read and the information from LC Engineering, it doesn't look like anyone changes anything on their carbs when installing a header system. Is this really the case? Every motorcycle and car I have worked on required carb adjustments (or re-jetting) or an ECU tune if headers or an aftermarket exhaust system was installed.

If carb adjustment on the 22r is not necessary, that's great and makes for an easy upgrade. I am just looking for someone with a little more knowledge to help me understand.

Thanks

The installation of a wide band oxygen sensor (if only temporarily) would tell you what you need to know to optimally tune your engine.
I think most headers are built with a sensor bung.

Thanks Millball, that makes sense to me. I guess the part I don't understand is why companies like LCE are saying their headers do not require any adjustments or tunes? I searched on the forums quite a bit and haven't found anyone claiming they had to re-jet or adjust anything to install upgraded headers. Am I missing something?

I rekon a lot depends on the cam chosen, whether the carb is stock, or other, and what you expect from the engine,
i.e. highway cruise efficiency, versus acceleration, or maybe lower RPM torque for 4wheeling.
From what I have seen, headers appear to have a large 'coolness' factor, but provide little utility in mostly stock 22r engines in ordinary service.

Sorry, I should have specified. This is on a 1985 4x4 22r where the motor is completely stock with 100k miles. I just lifted it 2.5" and put 31" tires on it and was looking to get a little more power on the top and as I do quite a bit of driving on the Kansas Turnpike where traffic runs between 75-80 mph. The truck will still get up to 85 mph but it struggles a little more than it used to before adding the 31" tires.

I had read on multiple forums that upgrading the header to something like LCE would give me a little extra power in the top end. When I checked with LCE, they said that their header was a bolt on that did not require any tuning or carb modifications. I was looking to see if anyone else can confirm that adding headers to a stock 22r motor does not require any tuning.
