Power Steering

I currently have no power steering and as enjoyable as it's been I think it's time to upgrade to power steering. I was wondering if I can use the stock non power steering box and just get a pump and other necessary parts to complete this.

negative, you will need the power steering box and pump from a truck that had it. I have been thinking about pulling my stock power steering off my 85 truck and doing hysteer. Depending on what direction you want to go, I might have a box that would work for you. If interested and not in a hurry pm me.

Would power steering from a 2wd work or not?

Not forsure on that one, I don't know anybody that has done that. I would have to say that I would think no, as the suspension is totally different between the two trucks. I would go to the wrecking yard and take a look to see if I was you. Let us know what you find

I would imagine all the 2WD p/s parts would work except for the steering box, as you need a push-pull type steering box. Might be able to find someone who recently put on crossover steering on an '85 or older truck who can sell his old box to you. Or if you have 3"+ of lift, go straight to cross-over steering and then you can use an '86 or later steering box.

Currently I'm planning on doing a chevy spring swap with ruf so I may just wait for crossover steering. I'm still going to have to get the power steering stuff exept for the box.
I asked about the 2wd because I was at the junkyard yesterday and saw a 2wd truck there with a 22r and power steering. I didn't really have time to inspect it very closely though. So just thought I'd ask and save myself a trip.
