no power sometimes/ rough idle. no engine code
85 22re automatic:nopity:
it all started the other day when i was driving up my drive way i lost all power.. very sluggish. i had to put in neutral rev the motor up and put it in gear to make it about ten feet. then it just went away and ran fine. now it runs very rough at an idle, dies sometimes.. and every once in awhile it has the no power symptom.... my guess is the tps. but wanted to get some opinions! my check engine light reads normal. all cylinders have over 150 compression. plenty of fresh gas. new plugs wires cap rotor appreciate any input  |
an easy way to test tps is to jumper your diagnostic conections and see if you idle drops and your timing retards. I just fixed my tps problems and they can be a pain.

Sounds like my '92. Is there any chance that its during a wet condition? Mine starts acting up like that after crossing creeks or during heavy rain and water is splashing around. It will only run 1/4 throttle or full throttle, nothing in between. I'm overseas right now so I haven't gotten a chance to figure it out yet.

If its during wet conditions could be a small crack in distributor car causing moisture or water to get is also check for vac leaks easy way to do this is start truck and spray starting fluid by vac lines if it's leaking it will suck it in and rev up or stutter

Mine is doing the same. I honestly think it is the injectors. Mine was cutting out bad and I changed the fuel filter it got better but is still there. Im thinking the injectors are clogged

Pull the injectors and have them pop tested and cleaned |

Same problem here but turns out I was skipping 2nd gear in the auto trans.
maybe solenoids? |
For me, it wasn't anything ignition, I've gone through and replaced everything at least once. I've heard something with the knock sensor might cause it. I figure it has to be electrical, rather than fuel or ignition (in my case). I could cross a creek real slowly, no water splash up in the engine bay and it will start doing it. And it sometimes take 2-3 days to actually start to run right again.

mine turned out being my 02 sensor,or the lack of one.PO put a new (pieced together pos) exaust on ,disconected the wire for the 02 sensor and stuffed it up on the tranny.i put a new exaust with a new sensor and the problem has been gone since
