Leaking oil

Getting tired of my 22re leaking oil..

some where on the passenger side I have an oil leak..

its not the valve cover, and it does not seem to be oil pan but I am not positive..

.. and its becoming a pain in the ass..

Can you narrow it down a little ?, can you tell if its comming more from the front or the back ?, if its not the valve cover leaking, then the only other oil related things on that side of the engine are the oil filter, and oil sending unit, thats all i can think of right now.

Pics would help. I'm not familiar with the 22RE, but like myyota said, I would check those first.

add lucas oil on your next oil change. it stopped my oil leaks

I had a leak that was going down the block and also on the gear box so I thought it was engine related or gear box related. Turns out that it was my P/S pump reservoir hose that was leaking. I simply cut the hose back a little and put the hose back on and the leak was gone. It looked like oil not ATF fluid... not sure why.

It looks like the power steering fluid is low.. but I am on a hill right now and have a client on his way..

Oil filter and oil pressure sending unit seem to not be the source of the leak..

so I am going to try the Lucus oil and double check the truck when I get it on level ground..

if it's on the pass. side, i recommend a good cleansing. when cold, soak it down with degreaser, then rinse, then blast with compressed air. distributor is on drivers side so you can go crazy on that side of the block with the degreaser. then drive it a few miles and see where your fresh leak is. right? power steering is on the driver's side too. this could make it a lot easier to find your leak source.

crap.. still leaking...

I found that I had a leak on the oil pump.. fixed that..

It looked like a oil pan leak, pulled out the gasket and put in permatex black in place..

drove it to work and its still leaking...:domo2:

I'll double check the oil pressure sensor... damn guage doesn't work any how

clean it really good and powder it down with baby powder on that side of the engine. drive it a few miles, it will show you the source of the leak.
just an FYI, i had the same problem on a 22R and just retorqued the cyl head and re-adjusted the valves afterwards. it fixed mine

I have the same issue going on and I narrowed it down to oil pump seal leaking and the problem with that is the oil pump leak lets the fan pulley fling oil everywhere and makes its hard to track down. I'm just gonna hillbilly it and add some lucas and some of that engine leak stop snake oil to it.:stir: not the right thing to do i know but its cheap and its due for a new motor anyway so I'm not gonna dump any real money into this one. Blasphemy I know i know lol

Well I spent about an hour with the power washer after using a can of engine degreaser, and poured in a bottle of Lucas oil stop leak..

need to get some baby powder.. gonna be a little weird driving a flat black 4runner that smells like baby powder..

No leaks seen so far after the 30 min drive to work..

Oh and now my driveway street is an oily mess.. kind of a newer development so mine is the only one that looks like this..
