Just picked up this Sweet one owner straight 84 extra cab deluxe =)
Put the Tundra to work last week and towed this gem home.
My good friend just bought a new camera and wants to start doing paid videography jobs so he asked if he could tag along and document the day trip. Here's quick vid if you care to see it. The history and originality of this one owner 84 Xtra cab was too good to pass. The engine is currently being rebuilt. It was running strong but I figured i might as well do a good once-over. No plans to molest it. I'm going to get a good detailer to restore the paint, redo the interior to factory spec and throw some OEM-ish 15s with 31's on her and call it a day. The original plan was to build a BTTTF replica, but this truck is to O.G. to mess with. I'll probably flip it and hand her off to someone who is really looking for an ALL ORIGINAL truck. I'll work on another truck that's already been tinkered on. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.yot...61c68a422.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.yot...8eef20424.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.yot...8ecb0d3e5.jpeg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.yot...48a351265.jpeg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.yot...a2314dd36.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.yot...581facab1.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.yot...51b1257d7.jpeg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.yot...4016ca96a.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.yot...53497070f.jpeg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.yot...6df828dbb.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.yot...430333e1b.jpeg |
Congratulations! That looks like it’s in incredible condition. It’s identical - year, trim, color - to the one I just got... but way nicer.

Post up your progress or whatever you decide to do! :wrench: Thanks for sharing! :safari: Thank you. The engine is scheduled to get put back into the truck this coming week. I've got tons of stuff currently on order and even more waiting to be purchased in several sopping carts. I'm still on the fence about really modding this all original truck, so I'm going to hold off for a bit on the big stuff. As of right now I purchased a set of US Modular 94 wheels in 15x7 and will be wrapping them in some 31x15 Wranglers. There's a slight crease on the passenger side so I'm going to have a shop fix that and pay for a good detailer to try and wax the sine back into her. I also bought some OEM style body graphics that will be a game-time decision. They actually are for the 86 pickup, but I like them. After all that is done, I'm gonna hang tight on bumpers, possibly a roll bar and the interior until I fully commit to keeping it. I really like the old fashioned tube-style bumpers and from what Iearned theyre pretty hard to come by now since Smittybilt doesn't make them for Toyotas anymore. I've seen the rear for sale for around 500 bucks new, but the front is slim pickin's. ARB makes a nice bumper for like a grand for the 84-85 deluxe, but I'm not all sold on that look just yet. Guess I'll just keep hunting in the meantime since I'm kinda 50/50 on selling it to someone who will appreciate the originality of this truck more them me. I feel like every single foreign thing I modify the truck with is a cardinal sin at this point. Anybody have suggestions on whether I should just stop and sell or keep at it? So far the engine rebuild and the wheels and tires are the only things I'm really into it for. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.yot...2b54188740.jpg Purchased a set of US modular 94 in 15x7 https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.yot...7d033062b.jpeg Plan on having the centers done in a pewter or gunmetal-bronze https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.yot...b2398b1a2e.jpg at the shop https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.yot...739784a3e6.jpg Engine out for rebuild https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.yot...12b764aba4.jpg Crease on door/ nothing crazy, but it bothers me https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.yot...3ec895dbdf.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.yot...f8a2049516.jpg Most likely the look I will be going for. (minus tube bumpers for now. I purchased those decals/ graphics as well. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.yot...cf626f825f.jpg ARB Front bumper. Not completely sold on it just yet. |
Sweet looking truck (I guess I’m a bit biased with my 85 xtra cab in the same color). Sent you a pm about your camper top.

Your tow rig is badass.
Nice score!! Super original. I vote no arb bumper. Keep it original! |
Got her dialed in and shes running like a champ. Holding off on mods (wheels/ tires + susp) for now just in case I put her back on the market.https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.yot...7528bf02f.jpeg

Love those white steelies. Congrats on the nice find!

Its funny and ironic, I've got a 1986 Marty Mcfly SR-5 xtra cab with 4.88s, E-locker, Smittybuilt bumpers, Long Travel, 33s and so on...... and the market favors restoring it back to stock, only to have the new owner go out of their way to find the components to build it a Marty McFly. Same goes for my 86 SR-5 4runner with gears, lockers, trail armor, Mega Travel one off suspension, big stereo, etc. And then there is my 86 Fordota trophy truck that is off the chart in modifications and 20 years worth of blood, sweat and tears.

Good lookin truck man, where’d ya find the bumpers?? TIA

Damn. That looks awesome! Nice work.
What are the odds that two identical little Pickups are being resurrected at the exact same time?! Mine moved from the bodyshop back to ACC this week. It's been great checking in on your truck while mine served 14 weeks in bodyshop prison ;-) |

Tires have arrived and did a little bumper test fit. Wheels due to be delivered this Tuesday. Removed the camper shell. I like it, but I don't I'll be putting it back on.

Interior and exterior are in OUTSTANDING condition. I have both keys for the locking window. I'm not certain what it goes for so by all means if you do we'll go from there |
Looks great! Are those 33s? How much lift does the truck have? Looks like stock or 1"?
My tires showed up too! https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.yot...caa5618dfc.png |
