Ignition Control Module gone bad

1985 22re with bad ignitor, searched, at a loss for a fix, replacement. Any suggestions, sources. At a loss on what will work.

What makes you think it's the ignitor that's bad?

Time for a trip to a local pick and pull?

Some people have retrofitted GM ignition modules. They are cheap. I read it on Ih8mud.com maybe.

the ex53 module? https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...89341&jsn=1106 fits '85-'88 22re

it's been out of stock for a long time, at all vendors, i put in a stock notification at rockauto and managed to nab one for $114, which was a good price... it seems to work fine, but the wiring is smaller diameter, which is disappointing; i tore the original unit apart to see what was inside, it's totally not serviceable.

worst case is that there are a lot of listings at the junkyards... see the bottom of this thread for cross-referenced part numbers: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...-motor-305381/

when this ex53 ignitor fails, the engine will not start, you are dead in the water, so carrying a backup is probably a good idea.
