Help! Engine lopes after Head Gasket replaced.

I just replaced the head gasket on my 85-22-REC engine. And now my engine lopes or modualtes engine speed up and down when I accelerate and hold position. EFI was working fine when torn down. Anyone got any suggestions? I have checked my vacuum lines and there doesn't seem to be any gasket leaks.
Thanks,RWade

Check the ECU for codes. Sounds like something awry in the EFI. Read this link if you need help with that.

How is the idle?

The idle is fine. Just when I accelerate or open throttle and hold it pulses.

Thanks MudHippy,

I will try the diagnostic code and see what I find.

Hey, I unplugged the wires to the throttle position sensor and the engine runs great.

By the way the diagnostic check only gave me 1 code which I believe that means everything is OK

Ok.. this means the TPS is not adjusted correctly, or the throttle is not fully returning to the closed position.. dirt, or binding, or throttle dashpot is preventing full return. One of those will be the problem.

First make sure the throttle is fully returning to closed position. If not, fix that. If it is, and problem is still present, adjust the TPS.
