frame swap

I have a 85 4runner and I was wondering if I could mount the 4runner body onto a 84 pickup longbed. The reason I ask this is because I found a 84 pickup with a diesel,no turbo, with the frame, axles, and suspension all have been painted an rebuilt. My 4runner has no engine and the frame is rusted. Thanks for looking and your time.

You CANNOT do that. Because the frame is too long, and so is the wheelbase.

^What MudHippy said.

The wheelbase of your 4Runner is 103" (I think 102.95" to be exact). The wheelbase of a second gen regular cab lond beg is 112".

Yes you CAN do that. You CAN do anything. CAN. CAN is the keyword. It's impractical and will require a lot of work but yes you CAN do that.

You have a point but I guess we were under the assumption that he just wanted to plop the body on the frame and go. That you can't do.

Which is why I specified the major reason(s) for saying that. A little less misleading that way. Wasn't trying to argue with anybody though.

I think the mounts are the same from the front radiator support and two, maybe four, cab mounts. After that I believe they vary in location.

Yes it is possible to do, but its certainly not a bolt in ordeal.

Behind the cab on a pick up there are two post on each side of the frame that attach to bed.

On a 4Runner the frame doesnt have any post at all. This is how identify a truck and 4runner frame differences.

I dont know the dimensions, all of the frames look alot alike from 79-95 trucks. If you dont know what you have, it would look like they are all interchangeable on the pickups but they are not interchange without major modifications. As far as looks, Toyota really didnt change much on the frames, they look all the same.
