Death Valley Trip In Late June: Preparation Suggestions
Alright everyone, I'm about to take my rig on her first real big trip. I'm driving from Oregon to Southern California and spending a couple of days in the desert with family.
As my vehicle stands, I need to do a front axle overhaul. Considering the heat in late June in Death Valley, I need to make sure my coolant system is working in tip-top shape. Anyone with suggestions as to make sure it's working at capacity?
I have air conditioning in my rig, but I don't plan on making the trip with the top, so it's kind of a pointless device.
Considering the amount of dust that's liable to be out there, I'm going to change my filter just before I go, and I'll take a spare one just in case.
Anyone have any other advice of trail readiness of my truck so I can make preparations in the time provided?

for truck: spare water pump, fuel pump, fuel filter, belts, hoses, coolant, water, duct tape, hose clamps,
I have one of the tire kits from T-G (down towards the bottom):

for you: LOTS OF water, extra food.
