Has anyone checked if their metal vacuum lines are rusted and blocked like mine are, twice now. I am wondering how moisture is getting in there. Now my EGR modulator isn't working the way it is supposed to(has water in it). According to the FSM with all hoses off I apply air to Q
and close P and R and air should come out of filter. Q is completely plugged no air passes at all through Q. New Modulator is $60 at autozone. Also my carbon canister is failing the FSM tests, I can't see how to disassemble it to clean it. It looks like the top should spin off but no. Any suggestions?

Does anyone else have a 22RE with plugged vacuum lines?



Hi I have tested the EGR system some more and what I need is a more detailed test of the EGR Modulator, is there one somewhere? The Fact Svc Man 's test was too limited. I can't figure out why the EGR valve is opening right away as I increase throttle instead of after 3500 rpm like it should. Thanks for all your help.

The only possible way i can see water getting into the metal vacuum lines is if one of the temperature operated vacuum valves has failed internally and water is somehow getting through the valve into the vacuum lines. (thats a guess on my part, i don`t know if its possible for that to happen).
Your charcoal canister doesn`t come a part for cleaning, if its bad it has to be replaced.

I would also suspect the BVSV where the vacuum lines connect to under the throttle body. That seems to be the only place where coolant is involved with the EGR system.

Try using the FSM cleaning procedure for the cannister with compressed air. I did mine about 2 years ago and was amazed at the clouds of dust and what not that came out of mine.
