Code 6???
So I got a 1987 4runner sr5 with a 22re. I just checked for any codes and came up with a code 6... great now what do I do? RPM SIGNAL-NO SIGNAL TO ECU FROM DISTRIBUTOR ("Ne" OR "G") AFTER ENGINE HAS BEEN CRANKED
--DISTRIBUTOR/CIRCUIT --STARTERSIGNAL CIRCUIT --IGNITER/IGNITER CIRCUIT --ECU Ok I found this but my book does not have any info |
:bang:

first check all your fuses.
are you using the fsm? that is the order you should check/test things in. 1--DISTRIBUTOR/CIRCUIT 2--STARTERSIGNAL CIRCUIT 3--IGNITER/IGNITER CIRCUIT 4--ECU and what they mean by circuit is basically, the wires/relays etc.. connecting said part to the ecu/battery.. |
measure the pickup coils in the distributor with an ohm-meter. IIRC there are 4 wires and two pairs of pickups. you probably have a dead one which means you'll need another distributor.
|
basically, the ECU is getting told you're cranking the engine: "STA" signal from the ignition switch; but is not getting the proper signal telling it the engine is spinning.
Likely, the distributor pickup and wiring to the igniter are okay, else the igniter wouldn't get a signal to fire the plugs so it wouldn't start at all: the igniter is capable of running the engine if there's a fault between the igniter and ecu the signal travels distributor > wire/plug > igniter > plug/wire/plug > ecu I responded to your PM regarding a few things to check. |
Ok lil update I just un did the connections cleaned everything thing I saw in the relay then reset the ecu and wahlah code 1 sweet then I gave it a bath!
