now you're in the same boat i was. what sucks is the wiring harness looks about the same, but its not. you have to take the dash off the old truck, take the wiring harness out, put it in the new cab, put the new dash in, (or keep the old one, i chose to keep my old VIN plate). now i dunno bout you, but i had to cut the gear shift hole a little bit in order for the 4wd stick to clear properly. but really other than that, it should be a piece of cake. i mean i did mine without taking the intake manifold off to run the harness through... yeah i had small hands then lol. good luck!

Thats about it. besides reinstalling the ECU into the new cab (kinda obvious). The only differences is wiring. Swap the cluster out of the junk cab to.

Otherwise the cabs are identical, well, almost identical Im not sure what changes might of been made between 85 and 86 but I think they changed the dash lines in 87. dont quote me on that.

the interior is the same but my 85 is extra cab and the 86 is not so i have to relocate the back 2 body mounts forward 6 inchs but thats not a problem. thanks. post pics if anybody has some. thanks
