a/c problems

so i went and did a retrofit on my 84 sr5 pickup's a/c and when i tried to put in the frion it barely took any before the pressure zipped up to 45 psi, something kicked on when i started filling it and the idle jumped to 2k. it still blows hot though, is there something im missing? help please i have a 45 min commute to work every day and its REALLY hot

déjà vu

...several folks have chatted this us, attempt a search

...did you evacuate? ...what are the hi/lo pressures? ..."freon" is r12, you're using r134a, right? ....r134a conversions usually don't work, sometimes... ...are you familiar with the idle-up circuitry?

You really need to know what your doing there, get a hold of a FSM and study it before you just start putting in refrigerant.......you could have a catastrophic accident if you try to charge through the wrong port (high side) So, if you aren't too sure of what you are doing, you'd better take it to someone that is---------Hans
