flowmaster keep the cat and as much exhaust pipe as you can its really not that loud but its the only thing that makes it sound like a truck and not a rice rocket

cgeorge Jan 19, 2010 03:52 AM

Charmin! :)

I like the sound of the Flowmaster myself...

toyotabull Jan 19, 2010 03:57 AM

opened up cat with a flowmaster 40 series and a 12 in tip. Not too loud but sounds good

MaK92-4RnR Jan 19, 2010 06:19 AM

Im going to have to disagree with everyone that suggests a flowmaster. Ive had a flowmaster on my truck and it sounded like pure crap. Borla and Magnaflow mufflers have a much cleaner desireable sound. I have a borla on my 3.0. and its probably the most throaty exhaust i've heard. This is what it sounds like

3vze is going to sound much different then a 22re though.

MaK92-4RnR Jan 19, 2010 07:16 AM

I'm sure. but I've heard a flowmaster and magnaflow on 22re. Gonna have to suggest going with a magnaflow rather than a flowmaster. much richer and cleaner tone.

projectDragTruckv2.0 Jan 19, 2010 09:43 AM

flowmasters on any R series sound like a tractor...to me anyway. I'd say run a header, 2.25 in pipe, and a magnaflow. No cat, and as few bends as possible.

MaK92-4RnR Jan 19, 2010 09:54 AM

^^^ agreed. this is the same setup i ran on my 3vze. sounds great, but loud.

ibeamtaco Jan 19, 2010 09:55 AM

wow both of those videos sound like my old Honda i would not run that on my truck i want it to sound like a truck i have header 2.5in exh flow master dumped before back of cab in my toy its a little loud when i run anything over 300o rpm but it doesn't sound like ricer but its personal opinion
and i fo have a 4cyl and its hard to make that sound like a truck

projectDragTruckv2.0 Jan 19, 2010 09:57 AM

unless you add 4 more cylinders...

k808soljah Jan 19, 2010 09:59 AM

I agree with MaK92-4RnR as well.. I've heard more good things about magnaflow than flowmaster.

Check out this link: http://pnw4runners.com/exhaust/exhaust.htm

i agree with gnarls, this is very opinionated, everyone is going to give there personal prefrence, for example, i loved my stock muffler, i'd actually rather have it back then my performance muffler.

k808soljah Jan 19, 2010 10:00 AM

And look into this one: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...X0DER&v=glance

Only $45 w/free shipping and I think it sounds great(from listening to the clips from the link i posted earlier)

ibeamtaco Jan 19, 2010 10:02 AM

i ran magnaflow because when i bought truck thats what was on it but it was rusting out so i put flowmaster and i cant be happier unless i could make it sound like a blown Sb Chevy
but like said by eavry1 you have to chuse 4 urself

you do not know what you're talking about if you think my truck sounds like a Honda.

flowmasters have chambers in it that restrict the flow and create a so-called "throaty" sound. I can almost guarantee that my truck has a "throatier" result with a borla turbo style muffler than your 3rz with a "dumped" exhaust. not to mention, I also have a tail pipe. I've ran the "dumped" exhaust and it sounds like a bumble bee when you let off the gas. I cant imagine what it sounds like on a 3rz. I've heard it on a 5vz-fe, 22re, 22r and 3vze. and nothing has matched what my set up is.

pretty sure no one in this section cares about 3VZE's.

heres some nice sounding 22R and 22RE setup's, IMO the best your going to get on an R series is the Flowmaster.
