Alternator problem
Over the past few days it has been 100+ here in the midwest. I have been noticing my truck losing battery power. It finally left me stranded today. . . .I hopped out and found the Battery to alternator wire was arking out around the bolt that secures it to the alternator, eventually destroying the connection. I was on the side of the road so i cut the wire, cleaned it up, and wrapped it back around the bolt and tightened it till it smashed the clean wire back down. Got a jump and drove home, now nothing but a click. Will try replacing alternator when it cools off, just seeing if anyone had experience with this issue before . . . thanks much.

Ive heard of a few people here having that problem, but its not a common problem. The nut on the alternator probably just came loose, and when it does it starts arking and eventually burns through the stud on the alternator.

Thanks for the advice. Ill try switching out the battery first...

from what you described though it sounds like you should be more worried about that arcing alternator connection more than the battery...might as well pick up an alternator too IMO..

I burned out the connector for the alt on the passenger side near the fender
