Air intake/battery swap
2 Attachment(s)
Just finished with this little project. I managed to use some 3/16ths plate I had lying around to fab a support for the AFM. Still not happy about how the battery sits. The coolant overflow bottle has a protrusion that sort of gets in the way. If that weren't there, the battery would sit nicely in the old air box location. I was wondering if anyone else who has done this has a good way to deal with the battery.

fab up a battery box that positions the battery how you need it. I hear a certain blue member has a write up on a battery intake swap with snorkel he did. :great:

any noticeable difference you felt from doing the swap?
whats the butt dyno say |

whats the butt dyno say Honestly, it's not worth it unless the stock setup really bothers you. It's easy to do, but it's not something that is going to deliver a huge benefit. |
Looks like a different coolant bottle that on my '85. Mine is flat like the washer bottle on the other side and has no protrusions:

This is what I was looking for. I knew there had to be an alternate coolant bottle that would make a better fit. Just didn't know that it would come from another 4Runner. Next time I go to the pick n pull I'll be looking for one of these.

I picked up a new battery tray from Advance Auto when I did my swap and bolted it on the smaller tray where the air box used to sit. Battery fits perfect.
