85 22r valve cover breather leaking oil

I've got an 85 22r that I just did a weber 32/36 swap on and I put a little filter on the front valve cover breather and it fills up with oil and leaks all over the place. I have my PCV valve hooked up to the new air filter and my oil level is normal so why is this happening?

Either PCV clogged or not manifold vacuum source for it, or excessive blow-by would be my guess.

I just re-read your post. PCV valve should have manifold vacuum source connected to it, not just connected to air filter housing. At least, this is my understanding...

Good call I'll check those today

PCV valve doesn't get hooked to the air filter. It doesn't have enough vacuum to remove the positive pressure in the crank case. It should be hooked up to the manifold vacuum. If it's a weber kit, it should have come with an adapter to use in place of the EGR tube that's between the carb and valve cover on the intake manifold.

It's the front port on the valve cover that either gets the little filter or gets hooked to the under side of the air filter.

It's not a kit. I bought it from a buddy and rebuilt it, so I don't have the adapter for the intake manifold. Can I buy one or do I have to make one?

I have a 38/38 and recently had to replace the gaskets. Runs like a top now. 40.99 here on eBay. Good luck.

Yea PCV requires manifold vacuum.

The breather hose on 22re's normally has manifold vacuum but on 22r's it connected to the air filter housing. Either way is fine.

The engine prob has heavy blow by as well but with the PCV system working you shouldn't notice it too much externaly.
