84 toy P/U carb'd no spark.. bought new parts.. still no spark
 

Ugh, so I'm totally stumped.. I just can't get any spark.

I'll try to give all possible information. Wife calls me, saying that the truck stalled on her just a few blocks from the house. Has been running perfectly fine after putting in a new carb a few months ago. At first I was like, perfect time to go ahead and do some tune up stuff... and hopefully it'll just be spark plug wires or something. Yeah, not so much. Bottom line will crank, it just won't start due to no spark.

1. New distributor
2. New cap & rotor
3. New spark plugs & gapped correctly
4. New spark plug wires
5. New coil
6. New Ignitor
7. New GM ignitor/module/etc for swap out setup
8. Under dash fuses are all good
9. Under hood fuses are all good
10. Pick up coil in distributor is properly gapped
11. Have 12v with key on at plug to ignitor
12. Have 12v with key on at Coil
13. Have proper Ohms on new distributor
14. Rotor does spin when cranked
15. Checked good for continuity on the cable (pink/white) from dist to coil
16. Toyota and GM coil both test good
17. Fuel does get to the carb
18. Starting spray has been tried, pointless

... i think that's it. Oh and it's an 84 p/u long bed, carb'd, 165k original miles. 2 month old still shiny carb. Was running great till it just stalled out.

What am I missing?

How about timing?

Timing was fine before it broke down. The engine is the original as far as I know, truck sat for about 5 yrs until I bought it.
Timing was set back when the carb was replaced. I wasn't aware that I can check timing if the engine won't start. What are you asking/suggesting?

I see you have 12V at igniter and coil with the key on, but what about with engine cranking?

...your chain may have jumped a few teeth, it happens and something that is easily verified. You would need to remove your valve cover to verify the cam timing marks are lined up to the crank at TDC.

Yes, have 12v at both locations with key on as well as when cranking

Never would have thought about timing chain jumping like that. I'll have to check it out and get back to you. Appreciate the help on this big time.

Start making sure all your fuses have power going to them, just had a weird issue replaced a lot of stuff trying to get spark, turned out no power to my efi fuse, not your exact problem I know but it could be similar if nothing else works! Good luck

Finally found time to work on the truck and try the ideas offered. Still no luck. In reply to suggestions:

1. Chain is fine, verified TDC
2. Wasn't able to find any wires/fuses that didn't have appropriate power to it

I'm not used to getting my butt kicked like this. Something I hadn't mentioned earlier (probably not relevant) is that this is a Calif Emission setup. I am tempted to go out and buy a new Emission Control Module. I've bought new parts of everything else.. ugh.

I was really hoping that the timing theory suggested by Frank would have fixed it.
