I will check in AM.

And the 4.88s only came as an option on some 4runners.

Well, I lied. I must have left my 4.88 thirds in my storage in Ga. I apologize.

Can you post up pics of your third and the overall rear end? A 9" would mean somebody swapped it, because it didn't come with it, that's for sure.

Its not a 9" its actually a tacoma rear end i found out!lol tacomas have 12 bolt rings and pickups have 10. Any way you would sell any of those 4:88s?

I think you can find a factory 4.88 pretty easy. Like I said earlier, I found 3 in my local Pullapart. I only took 2 of the rear thirds, but it sounds like I shoulda snagged all 3.... Lol.

And I guess I could sell one, but for me to drive 5hrs back to my storage unit for that wouldn't be very cost effective for either of us. I live in Madison, Al now, so let me call around here and see what's available. Give me a couple hours..

How far are you from Montgomery? The Pullapart there has three 4runners, one '95 just put out a few days ago. Birmingham Pullapart has 2 Runners. I'd be willing to bet one of them has a 4.88 rear.

Hmm idk quite a ways.it would probably be cheaper to reorder the right ring and pinion for a tacoma than drive there

If they will credit the R&P back that was wrong, I would do that. I'm gonna run over to a local yard here and see what they have. They don't have online inventory, so it's a "go and see" kinda thing.

Just got my right gears today now the problem is i have no way to reuse my pinion bearing because i cant get it off so i tried getting o riellys to order it because i need it now and the one they gave me was too small.i think it was the bearing that goes behind the flange not the one that presses all the way on the pinion.the bearing was for an "inner" pinion bearing.now please correct me if im wrong but isnt the inner bearing the one that you press all the way on the pinion?and the outer the one in the back of the chunk near the seal and flange?

Inner is the one closest to the gear teeth. Outer is the one closest to the driveshaft.

I'm running 33/10.50r15's 22r 5 speed with 4.88's. I'd much rather have 5.29's. 4.88's are good but if you have a 500# trailer behind you then your back to downshifting on hills. But overall I guess the 4.88's are okay. I'm carbed as well and that's a big power difference between you EFI guys.
