1984 toyota pickup weber carb

I just inherited my grand dads 1984 toyota 4x4 22r. For now im just trying to get it running changing filters, emptying gas tank, checking for rust problems etc.. This truck has been sitting for 5 years. So instead of putting a carb kit on it, im thinking about just getting a weber. My question is with the choke on these carbs. Do i get a manual choke weber or a electronic choke weber?

If it aint broke...dont fix it. Chances are its probably fine the way it is. DO a tune up and throw some new gas in it. I bet she'll sing.

Only reason i wanted to replace it is because, apparently before he died he had some one look at it and they said it needed to be switched out. Wont start without starting fluid and stalls out at med to high rpms. What you think?

i have a weber 38 with electric choke, if i had to do over i would have gotten one with a manual choke, it is sporadic sometimes it idle to high when fully warmed up. doesn't seam to matter on how i adjust it.

Really?...well that brings me to my next question. Is it my preference? Like there is no right or wrong? Both will work with my truck?

Also when shopping for a weber...I found some the say "conversion kit" and I have also found "adapters "for them to work with 22r..and i have seen the weber carb that is compatible with 22r. Does that mean i don't need an adapter or conversion kit?...any help is good help :)

The adapter plates from Weber are total junk! Get yourself a 1 piece adapter from Summit, or the spiral adapter from lceperformance.com and yes either style coke will work its a matter of preference

Which adapter plate better choice between those 2?

I've heard good about both. IMHO the one piece is better. The lce adapter is good quality and trusted by many, but it's is still two plates that have to be fastened together which still run the possibility of leaking.

So this would be what I need?

Just got it on....took me along enough huh? Runs like A champ no adjustments made yet. Replaced gas tank and fuel lines all the way to the carb.
