1983 Trekker that is in need of restoration.
Couple things I’d like to figure out fairly soon is what suspension upgrades I should go with and what power plant I will be swapping in. It’s in need of a new frame so I’m doing a body off restoration. Everything but the rockers for the body panels is good. I apparently have a line on a parts truck that will give me a good frame and interior, it’s still buried in the snow up north . This one is complete except for seats and fabric. if somebody had a list of available engines that bolt up to the five speed transmission from the first GEN that would be very helpful. I would like to keep the original running gear. I would also like to figure out is if there is a simple McPherson strut solution for a lift. Something similar to rancho quick lift. Let me know what you guys think |
I should really take a minute to introduce myself. My first vehicle was an 80 Toyota 4 x 4 truck. It was a family vehicle bought new. Ended up selling it during college. Since then I’ve restored about six different Toyotas. Couple runners, couple three trucks and fj60. ....that being said I’m just an amateur mechanic and haven’t done very many modifications during those restorations. Any help you guys are able to offer is going to be very appreciated!! Thanks |

20r 22r 22RE (but you need to make sure you get the computer and wiring etc suspension: no macpherson strut kit you can: A) do new leaf springs B) convert to a link suspension with coil overs or air shocks |
Ok cool. Is there a way I could possibly marry up the 4.7 L V-8 to the stock transmission and running gear. I’d like to roll 33’s and have lots of power to spare |

your side windows have been replaced, they are longer than the stock windows. They did a nice job finding a replacement.

I haven’t seen that sticker anywhere. Mine is a Canadian model. Apparently they were all fabricated in Calgary by the Hennessey dealership |
