Replacement floor pans
 

does anyone know of any place that sells replacement floor pans for 79-83 Toyota pickups? every one i own and have owned has had the floor rot out right at around the pedal area from the rocker to the tranny hump. Just kinda wondering if there's an after market replacement before i make my own

nope .. no replacements avaliable .. you'll have to make your own , as everyone else does ........

we (toyotafiberglass.com) looked into it .. but market research showed it was NOT feezable for us to do , people just did not want to spend the money .. so we dropped it .

i am in the process of putting some new sheet metal in the back of my front fenderwells...im just using some sheet metal, and then riveting it in there, but my holes arent the whole floor, just a small 12" X 6" hole...i put the sheet metal on the outside, riveted it in, and then sealed around the hole with RTV sealant...then to fill the whole in the floor im gonna use some fiberglass resin and matting, and then herculine over that...

Just curious - how much was it?

My guess is that the pans cost as least as much as the 4Runner sides would - so say $300 US....??

little less .. there were in the 120.00 EA area .. and then + freight broker ect..ect..

there was only ~ 10% of our serveyed customers willing to pay .

how long ago was this? i know i see these 1st gens on ebay for big money now, i think the resto market has grown for these trucks.

i'm going to cut the rot out and weld in a new peice of 18 gauge i got laying around to fit, the rock on this cab is pretty wasted to so i'll be salvaging that from my cab off of my wrecked 79...drilling out spotweld's and fixing this new cab is getting time consuming :nerd:

mine isnt that bad but i have to replace the tunnel on mine so that it clears the duals and 5 speed... i tucked it up in alot higher than the factory did.

re-found my pic of my 79's floor...the rot is continuous from rocker to rocker, going up and over the tranny hump, the previous owner fiberglassed pretty much the whole floor, pretty badly i must say...the back of the cab is pretty bad to around where the grommets should go...rockers are good though! and will be transfered to my new cab

Cut it out and replace it.

What is the minimum gauge metal you would use to fix this problem? I was looking at 22 gauge to fix several odd shaped 6"x12" spots in the floor of my 88 PU. I also would like to know how powerful a welder I would need? I have a 110 amp flux core MIG that I used for other projects but never to weld whole panels on a truck.

22 guage will work I use 20G . In any case I would recommend some "bead rolls" to strengthen it .. have a peek here https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f209...r-rust-262324/ might help
