79 toy #6094 special editon "black" my truck has every option except power window/locks. 95,769 orig miles
right now i'm gettin 16 in town, 19-20 hiway, i think i can get more out of her if the carb was right, i have a really rough idle and hiccups at hiway speeds. i'm gonna start a thread bout what may be wrong

I'm getting 21mpg in my '83 currently. It has a rebuilt 22r (stock build) and a LC Engineering Header w/ a 2.25" exhaust w/ a Cherry Bomb Turbo muffler.
It's driven 25 miles each way to work and back which includes a 2,000 ft elevation gain each way as I have to cross a mountain pass.
In all, I think it's doing pretty good!

I have a stock (other than a k&n filter and flowmaster muffler and i think 2 inch pipe with high flow cat, stock exh manifold and down pipe)
82 2x4 22r 5 speed with stock tire sizes.... i drive 42 miles each way to work, so 84 miles a day, and i only use 4 gallons of gas.. i think thats 22 a gallon and thats doing 75-80 the whole way

Haven't put gas in mine for 6 months or so. Gets pretty good milage parked in the garage. Need to get to work on it I guess. Don't remember milage back when it was on the road, but I was hoping 20+ would be avarage.

'82 4x4 with stock gears turning 33x9.50's. engine is an RE out of a '92 but set up with a 2 barrel carb.. everything else stock except for ripping out the emisions stuff..
-i get 23 mpg highway.. never driven city.
the best it ever did was 26 mpg and the worst was 16 with the old worn out motor.

I get 20-21 and as high as 24mpg if I take it easy on freeway road trips.
completely stock 1981 4x4 22r. I have a camper shell, with the shell off I got 19-20 avg and 22-23 freeway.
3 inch lift, 4.88s, 33x10.5R15 with aluminum alloy wheels, so a decently light wheel setup for a truck hehe

My 79 was getting around 17-18 mpg with 31x10s and a 22r mated to the dumpy lil 4 speed. Hopefully once I finally get the w56 in it I'll see some improvement. I will say with the hubs locked up it slurped gas. I could literally watch the needle dip when I was playin in the mud

My 83 4speed 2wd gets about 20 in town and I averaged 32mpg on my last long trip. I bet the in town mileage will go up once i get the choke fixed. Until the engine warms up the choke makes it mis-fire and idle roughly for a bit. After it's warmed up it idles and runs smooth.
The truck's basically all stock. I bought it from the original owner, I have the owners manual and everything! I recently took off the stock fan clutch in hopes of installing an electric fan and squeezing another 1-2 mpg out of it.

Mine are skewed a little from living at roughly 6,000ft elevation where the engine is down considerably on power compared to you guys closer to sea level
Before the rebuild my 2WD 83 4spd with 3.42 gears was getting 26-28 empty and 20-22 pulling my boat (small boat, only about 650lbs for boat, trailer and all)
That's a stock engine with weber carb and hooker header running through 2" exhaust with a thrush muffler.
After the rebuild I'll let you know what it does.
