Number of 1979-1983 Trucks-poll: what year do you own?

I am curious, how many 1979-1983 Toyota trucks or owners are there on YotaTech? Has anyone ever done a poll, survey, etc? Has anyone ever formed a group within YotaTech, besides the Tech Forum, for the puposes of owners helping owners exclusively?

Well, it's a '79, '80, '83 with a little bit of '03 Ranger, '89 FJ62 and '72 FJ40 in there for good measure.

Yes, Trekkers count. Also Wolverine II, Trailblazers, Mirage, Mojave, etc. As long as they are 1979-1983 Toyota truck models or based on 1979-1983 Toyota truck models.

I always come here for advice. It's got the best pre 84 threads out there. I stupidly asked how to de-smog my rig with the weber....shoulda searched but oh well. Gotta clean up the engine bay. Someone already did the de smogging so might as well chuck the extra metal. It'll give me 50hp extra lol.

So you're asking if there is or ever was, or possibly requesting, an area, not in Tech, for First Gen owners? I like the idea, but tend to think that basically what you're asking for is here, in Tech, under the pre-84 heading. I think in reality, there would be a lot of redundancy between the two, with some people not knowing the other area exists (or consistently forgetting about it, like I do the projects/build thread area).

I kind of think that this area right here is exactly what you're asking for. But if I'm missing the finer points (or major ones!) of your idea, let me know.

Hey, if there's a 4Runners Owners Only club, why not a first gen club?

Is there? That's the thing...I pretty much just hang out in the Tech area. Everything else is a big scary unknown

If the 4Runner Owners Only Club is successful and people really find it helps to have it in addition to the Second Gen Tech area, then maybe a 79-83 area is a good idea.

I'll check it out.

83, I just wondered how many first generation 1979-1983 Toyota trucks and their variations (Mojave, Trekker, Mirage, etc.) there are. Second, since there are less and less of these trucks and with their increasing age, parts and information about these trucks is getting harder to find. If there was a section in YotaTech that was exclusively for owners of these vehicles that combined tech, classifieds, parts sources, vendors, etc. in one area it would provide a faster way for members to obtain the information they are looking for. YotaTech is the best Toyota WEB site period but I thought maybe this idea would be great for First generation truck owners.
