My 1983 SR5 Shortbed

I purchased this truck in 2001 in Washington state for $2000. I love these trucks I think they are the best looking toyota pickupp made. Although I would love to have a 1985 4runner. Since that time I have dumped more money than I care to think about in to her, but it's my baby and I love her. With what I've dumped into it my wife should have divorced me by know. But I figure it was better than many other vices. I light trailed it in the snow but have kept it out of the off angle crush a fender trails. I guess that's why it look the way it does. I'm new the the forum and wanted to say HI!http://i408.photobucket.com/albums/p...me/MY83toy.jpg

Love that truck, I also think they are the best looking toys (altho the round headlights look better in my opinion)

kjvforme 01-19-2009 03:46 PM

So far this is what I can remeber I put in her:
ATK reman engine (Never again, another story)
Marlin HD Transmission
Centerforce Clutch/pressure plate
NW Offroad Heavy Flywheel
Schnider Cam
4" suspension lift
NW Offroad transmission bracket shims

If the body wasn't old the truck underneath would be new, with as much parts I've dumped into the old girl. But all in all she has served me well over the years.

Thats a NICE lookin truck. I love my 80 but it doesnt look nearly as clean as yours.

dropzone 01-19-2009 05:59 PM

Very clean truck. I can relate to the 'wife should've divorced me if she knew how much $$' into the truck reference.

If you are free the last weekend of June, head over to Brown's Camp OHV park for some wheeling: 2nd Annual Oregon Yotatech Meeting

The trucks name is "The Butter-churn" not a sexy name but well deserved. Here is why, I was going from Northwest Washinton down I-5 to Northwest Oegon and had a carton of cream in the back of the truck bed. When I arrived the carton of cream had turned to butter. I guess the suspension is a little bit stiff. The color lends to the name as well.

The tires are 33X12.5-15's I got them from Desert Rat they are "Conti's". Getting pretty thin will need to replace this year, got any Ideas? Was thinking about reducing size down one to 32x9.5-15 because it's a daily driver.

algranger 01-19-2009 09:43 PM

32's would be more efficient. i wouldnt go narrower than 10.5 but thats just my personal taste. i would go to an all terrain they will do a lot better on the road i run a 32x11.5 with no lift

if you havent regeared yet i would just do that and stick with the 33's the 32's would look goofy with your lift imo

Ok, 3 things:

1) That is one sweet truck.

2) I hope that is soap on the driveway. Or you guys have some HUGE birds in Oregon.

3) That's a nice looking lawn. I wish my grass would grow thick like that.

Thats a damn nice truck. I couldnt say anything bad about it. Hope she stays in that condition :) Has anyone noticed that some boxes have 3 tie hooks and some only have 2? I wonder if that is a specific year thing or just random. Anyway very jealous of your truck. algranger your truck is really sweet too, love that picture.

83 01-23-2009 01:49 PM

Seems random..although it seems like the long beds pretty much always have 3?

Flek23 01-23-2009 05:39 PM

Mine's an 83 4x4 shortbed. It has 3 on one side and 2 on the other. I assumed it was to zigzag a tiedown. The spot where it seems to be missing one does not look as if it broke off either.

TheWedge 01-24-2009 09:25 PM

Damn thats a good looking truck. Its trucks like that, that make me not post up pics of my junk. Envy is a bitch.

fyreandwater 01-25-2009 06:06 AM

Sweet truck. I love my short bed.
