Mirror replacement idea

Has anyone ever seen/used these?

http://www.carpartswholesale.com/v5/...isting+Page:10

I found a link to a mirror page on the rare parts thread and I think these might work on my truck. Some 1st gens have mirrors like I do but some don't. You can see them in my build link below. My passenger side mirror is in really bad shape. The bottom of the mirror housing is almost completely rusted away and every time I would shut my door the mirror insert would fall out (a guy at a gas station thought it was hilarious when it happened beside him one time) :bang:. But this weekend I got some JB weld and made the mirror stay in but I think I could make these mirrors work by cutting them off and drilling a hole in the mounting bracket if I need too. Pretty sure my mirrors don't have a bolt holding them onto the mount. Opinions?

Hit the photobucket link in my signature. Are those the type mirrors you are looking for? I have some new old stock ones I can sell you for much cheaper. They were made in 1983. PM me.

Will the '80 OEM western style mirrors fit an '81? Does anyone have the part numbers for them?

western , or swing-a-way is most commonly known name for these mirrors . they were not stock mirrors , but a dealer installed option or somewhere down the line , installed for whatever reason , usually for towing.
typically the bearing that "swings" the mirror siezes .. so be sure that works , also , on installation . "nut-certs" are your best option . what ever you do , dont just use a sheetmetal screw to install them , they wont last long , hope that helps
traditionall .. 79-88 mirror fits

Thanks slacker. Yeah my doors have the nut-serts installed, that is why I was asking if they would fit. No such luck around here in the boonies.

there were 2 different options from the dealer through out the years . 1 had a 1/2 moon mount bracket , and one a flat bracket . these had different bolt patterns . measuring the center to center bolt holes would be my best advise

I just checked my bolt pattern. The upper bolt pattern measures 2 3/4" center and the lower pattern is 2". The spread from top to bottom is 6 1/4" center to center. CAdot, if the measurements seem to follow the above , I would be interested.
