Lund Viser

I just picked up a lund viser for my 83, mocked it up in the parking lot seems to fit, question is looks like I got to put screws through the roof.... and well it rains alot in oregon. and does anyone have an idea about wireing them up? Its a moon viser with 6 lights on it guy said it came off a 90' toyota.

no idea about the screws, id probably just seal it up real good with something like 3m 5200, they use it below the waterline on boats, so even with all the rain here in OR, it should be fine.

As for wiring, run it (somehow) into the hood compartment, and connect it to relay tripped by the clearance light wire on the fender. be sure to fuse the wire from the battery to the relay, and you'll be golden.

yah I got it mounted up temp, still needs for more screws in it already have 4 in it...
um ill look for that 3m 5200 they got that at walmart or local part store? I was thinking silcone.
And for the wireing are you talking about running it to the side fender light aka parking light? and just fuseing the power there or do I need too? its only got 2 wires im guessing a ground and power. thanks for the repley

well you may be able to get away with running right off those, but what I'd do is run the hot lead to a relay, then run another wire off the relay (fused) to the battery, ground the other side of the "trip" circuit, and run the other side of the "switched" circuit to the visor, and ground the lights as necessary.

Oh and wal-mart has the 5200, look in the marine section. I seal up all my marine stuff like that, and find it makes excellent sealant.

yah sounds like the same way I have my off road lights hooked up, just kinda worried id leave them on hince the automatic way of it contred by the lights so I dont leave them on... lol I got a few things hooked up to the batt. and well had probs of not driving the truck for 2 days and coming out to dead batt., and its a yellow new optima hasnt done it since I removed the electric choke from the battery tho.

Did the year differnce 90-83 make a diference in fitiment?

skip the messy silicone, use well nuts instead.

um it took alot of lineing up but it looks good. Lund emailed me the directions today... little late but the model I have is for a 89-91 apparently. Really all that needs to be right it looks like is the bolts closest to the winshield is 1 inch above it. 8 half inch screws dont see this thing going anywhere. Well nuts is that going to require me tearing up the headliner to put nuts on?

Al's Chop Shop 09-08-2008 10:43 AM

i think they can be installed from the top. if not, just pull back the headliner... i wouldn't use sheet metal screws unless you want it torn off on the highway...

K ill try that. Any Ideas on where to drill for the wire for the power source?

slacker 09-08-2008 04:21 PM

did you try fit it yet ?

cuz a 90's truck is much different then and 80's truck ... there NOT interchangeable .

Scooby098 09-08-2008 05:01 PM

hmmm lol I lose test fitted it ... Its on the truck now, looks good only thing is the 2 holes on the bottom are not as wide as I would like them so I dont think im gonna put screws in there. Dont want to screw my windshield seal up. cause on is on the very edge of the rubber, the other side is like a a quarter inch in but if you look at the truck dead on everything is centered Thought about just wacking off those tabs. Ill get some pics up once I find the camera cord.

i hate to bring up a old thread but summit racing has one and i wont one so bad i think they look bad a$$. and it says its for a 89-95 or something like that. i would like to see it on it. and do you still like it?

82shorty 06-18-2012 08:28 AM

im curiuos too. I cant find one for a first gen truck. What are people using? Ive seen some for rangers and s-10's. They look like they could be made to fit? What kind of visor are all of you running?
