I am working on an '83 project truck. I have a 22re and most of the stuff to do an EFI conversion on it, but some of the plugs aren't matching up.I am rethinking the whole conversion. I also have two carbs off of '83's. I need help trying to decide what route to take. I want to get this truck going as soon as possible. Would it be easier to stick with the carb. I was thinking about a Weber on a carb intake, maybe ordering a kit from somewhere. This will be a daily driver and a medium duty trail rig, but no rockcrawling here in MO. Ideas, advise, and suggestions would be great. I would like to stick with something easy, even if I have to order stuff. Thanks a lot. :help:

i personally hate propane powered stuff(i work on forklifts and such at work) so i'd have to say the easiest way to go would be to set it up with a carb.

if you use an '83-up engine, you could run a carb intake on it until you figure out how to rig up the fuel injection, then just swap manifolds and distributors, and screw in the necessary sensors.

I ordered a Thorley header the other day, for the 22RE. Will this still work if I go with the carb setup? I don't think I would go with propane, a little inconvient for a DD. Maybe I will try the wiring harness from Off Road Solutions, it sounds like it would make the EFI conversion a lot easier...

yep, only thing you might have to do is put a plug in the bung for the O2 sensor.

Wonderful ideas! Im surprised nobodys suggested making it run on hopes and dreams yet.

Go factory carb for now, then if you decide to upgrade it should be an easy transition.
