488's and 35's

Running 488's and 35" tires with a 22r under the hood, how do you like it?

i've got 34s, and it's just fine. no problems getting to freeway speeds at all.

How bout 33s and 4.88s? I'd like to know how that works. Esp. w/ a 5 speed. Wish I could drive both to see how each is on the streets and highway.

33's and 4.88's like peas and pods with a 5 speed.

4.88s X 33s

That is the combo in my 84, along with a 5-speed. Good stuff.
Pulls nice, decent torque, no problems at freeway speed, either.

I have a 22RE, but there okay. If I were to do it over I would probally go 5.29, but when I got 4.88's all I was running was 32's...

It isn't so much the gearing as it is your engine...I have a completely rebuilt 22RE w/ 4.88s on 37s and it'll bark the tires in 1st and 2nd on the right pavement and accelerate in 5th gear and run as fast as you want to go in a lifted 85 on 37s. :hillbill:

I agree waskillywabbit my yota has stock 4.11's with 33" Xterrains and a 37,000 mile 22R and goes great! but 4.88's would be very nice

4.88's is fine for 35's if truck sees mostly street.
5.29's are better if it sees a lot of offroad.

my bros 84 has 488's and 35's and that thing will go anywhere, they work great as far as that truck is concerned.
EDIT: why not through in a picture :D

Agreed, but I dont think its worth the $$ to go from 4.88's to 5.29's, for any size tires... The $$ would be better spent on tcase gears or dual cases, IMO.
