1983 toyota bumper
Hello, I bought a new bumper from c2c fabrication but I don't have any brackets for it and I don't even know what they look like. I also don't know how they are supposed to connect the bumper to the truck. One of my friends with an 83 told me the brackets are welded to the bumper but I sure hope not. Any info about the brackets will be helpful. thanks

Is this a stock bumper, and is this the web site you bought it from? https://www.c2cfabrication.com/

The ones you need for factory mounting are like the ones in the link although I cant speak for the quality of the ones that I found. They mount with bumper bolts on the front and standard hardware on the frame. I am curious about the quality of the bumper you purchased as I have a oem on one truck that is nice and heavy and a replacement on the other that is very thin you can bend it with your hands. How thick is the metal on the one you have does it flex in your hands or does it appear to be well manufactured? |
Thanks for the link. I heard somewhere that something changed with the bumpers in 82, not sure what, but for 30 bucks i’ll buy them just to see and i can do a little modification if i need to. Im not sure about the thickness of the bumper its just been sitting in the corner of my living room since i cant really do anything without brackets. I’ll look at it and get back to you. |
the bumper is kind of thin but i cant bend it |
Yeah the 82&83 have plastic end caps. And thanks be sure to post pics when you get it all mounted up.

Alright will do |
Bad news, the brackets dont look like they bolt on at all to the bumper, so im back to square 1 but i could buy a 79-81 bumper. Not sure what to do yet |
