1982 Toyota SR% stripes painted on hood

I went a little out of the box since these are by no means factory stripe colors, but I think they turned out pretty good. The yellow stripe is still in the Toyota family being 532 (mustard yellow). I have the fenders in paint and will doing them in the next couple if weeks once I find the time.

That looks really good! I might have to steal that stripe idea. Different colors though. What are you using chromabase, PPG?

BASF's RM line. My dad had to switch to PPG since the jobber stopped carrying RM, but the stripes were done using RM. The blue is actually Advantage single stage acrylic urethane. It's not bad, but I should have went with a two stage system like I'm used to. The single stage flowed like crap out of my gun. I had to cut it really thin to get it to spray correctly. This makes wet sanding a nightmare because it's so thin. I guess this is what I get for saving a couple of bucks.

Nice! Ive never shot acrylic, just poly urethane (I spray bikes and motorcycles.) I usually use 2-stage chromabase cause its what my guy has, but I came into some single stage Imron which has been super durable. This'll be my first full auto paint, I'll definitely continue watching your progress to get some ideas.

It's in primer now. Gonna paint it next week. The stripes on the fenders/doors/bed will happen after that.

You and me both. I bought this almost a year ago and might have put two miles on it driving it from one bay to the other since it rolled off the trailer.

Did you have to color sand the stripes or did it lay down good enough?
