18-rc motor
 

I didn't know quite where to post this but does anyone know of/or where to get a good used or rebuilt 18-rc long block for a 1973 hilux pickup? It has the 3-speed automatic. I know the 70's corona had the 18-rc motor but I didn't know if the motor is interchangable?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

the 18R-C is the older brother of the 20R and 22R. in the states it was only used for 2 years, 1973 and 1974(between the 8R-C and the 20R).

i don't know how easy it'd be to find an 18R in somewhat good shape, being that they haven't been produced in over 30 years. i think that a 20R or 22R are a bolt-in swap(being that they are R engines, your flexplate and tranny should bolt right up in theory). main benefit there being that they are 2.2l and 2.4l respectively, which is quite a bit bigger than the little 18R.
