7.5" rear diff w/ 3.42 or 3.58 gears
I'm looking for a 7.5" third member with 3.42 or 3.58 gears. Plain old open diff is fine. Must be in good condition. I'd also consider a whole rear axle out of an first gen Taco five-lug with ABS and either gear ratio.

I have an axle for both gear ratios from 1st gen Tacoma. Both were 2wd and axle codes A01A & A02A. I don't think either had ABS though, in fact I don't think I've had any Toyota pickup with ABS yet in the 15 or so I've had total. RIght now they are complete axles, but I can take parts off to ship. Shipping the whole axle would probably be more than what the whole axle is worth.

Yeah, I don't really want a whole rear end anyway, but figured if I had to buy one to get the chunk, then it might as well be something I can use.
I'd be interested in the 3.42 since I do a lot of highway driving and my speedo reads 5mph fast anyway.

Got your PM and thanks.
I was able to find a 7.5"/3.42 carrier at the JY today and aiming to install it tomorrow. I'm still keeping an eye out for a 3.58 to rebuild, but probably going to look for something relatively local.

Not a prob, shipping to CA is kind of expensive from MI anyway. Good luck on the search, seems the 3.58 is probably more common on the 2.4L trucks (2rz), the 3.42 is probably the default one for the 2.7L (3rz). At least in the little I've worked with 2wd Tacoma's, that's how it has been.
