My project is going in another direction. This OM617 swap was excellent, but isn't up to my specifications for a daily driver.
For sale is the OM617 Engine with ~ 180k miles and the 4x4 Labs Adapter Plate (to R150), Crank Adapter, and Flywheel.

Engine also has
-TD04HL-19T turbocharger
-TDSwaps clearanced Power Steering Pump Mount (PS Pump Included!)
-TDSwaps A/C Compressor Bracket (Compressor not included)
-TDSwaps Alternator Mount w/140A Alternator
-Oil Pan modified to clear IFS steering linkage.
-OM617 Stock California Intake Setup

Engine runs great, has had the following maintenance done:
Oil Change, Valve Clearance Adjustment, Timing Chain and Tensioner replaced, Injectors replaced with Monarch nozzles.

Located in Charleston, SC. I cannot ship.

 

Is the stock CA intake a restrict or plate that can be easily modified? How much are you asking? If the engine can be palletized could freight with a lift gate pick up from your location?

 

I misspoke; the engine has the Federal intake manifold. I used the Mercedes California air cleaner setup in order to have room for the TD04HL turbocharger. The manifolds are both stock Federal units.

I'd rather not deal with shipping. I'm sure a freight company could pick up the engine, but I'd really prefer not to.

Make me an offer! Please keep in mind the new turbo alone was 700 dollars new in August haha. I'll get some pictures up when I pull the engine this weekend.


EDIT: Forgot to mention the oil pan and pickup tube have been modified to clear the stock Toyota IFS.

EDIT: Also for sale I have the modified trans crossmember which moves your R150F rearward by 4.5". This is more or less a swap in a box haha, these two items were the most time consuming elements of my conversion.

 

I have been wanting to do this swap with an extended cab 4wd T100. I am curious to know why you were not happy with the swap.

I drive my 1981 Mercedes 300SD very often, Mercedes made the OM617 work damn near perfect in this car - two firewalls and lots of insulation, 2k rpm stall torque converter, and lots of room for the engine to shake around on mushy soft motor mounts.
I had this engine in my Pickup which was a Daily Driver. I loved everything about it (especially the sound!!) except I could not get the idle vibrations down to what I was used to in the Mercedes -and I am a perfectionist. I used the stock Toyota rubber mounts, then tried some hydraulic isolators from the Ford 4.9L engine. I should have simply used the Mercedes soft rubber mounts + engine shocks from the get-go.
I think if I were to do it over, a heavier 38 lb flywheel plus the stock Mercedes mounts and engine shocks would make it perform exactly like I wanted. The few negative thiings you tend to hear about with this swap are with complaints about the lack of power, but the power for me was far from lacking - with the TD04 turbo I swapped in it felt much more lively than the 3VZE - especially between 1k and 2k rpm.

 

Is the om617 and adapter still available?

 

I am interested in just the adaptor, would you be willing to sell it?
