tools needed

what type of tools are needed for a suspension lift on a 3rd gen? i am still building up my tools so would like to know what you guys have used in installing your lift that made it easier for you to do it yourself.

WHen I helped install one of the first OME spring lifts about 5 years ago, the rear was a piece of cake. Just basic wrenches and a socket set as I recall. In front wer ran into trouble getting the new springs compressed. I had a pair of spring compressors, the kind with a compressor on each side of the spring. It worked to get the stock springs out, but would not quite get the new springs (2" lift as I recall) compressed enough to install them. I think what was used was a one-sided compressor (shown on top of the page below, the type I had was the bottom one):

are spring compressors needed if you put in another coilover like SAWs for the front?

if you are replacing the whole assembly as in the strut bod yand the coil then no, it then becomes a bolt off, bolt on operation

assuming you are only doing coilovers and springs in the rear, AKA: not a drop bracket or something along those lines, you just need regular tools, wrenches, 1/2" drive socket set, maybe a breaker bar, pry bar, screwdrivers, etc. Of course, an air compressor and attachments can make it easier. If you plan to do it in the next two years start spraying the bolts with penetrant now, ESPECIALLY the top rear shock bolts!
