I Am An Idiot, Or A Slow Learner: Hand Oil Pump for Diff and Trans fluid changes

The best 40 bucks I have ever spent was on a hand pump gear oil pump yesterday from Tractor Supply. It has a lid that fits on a five gallon bucket, and the pump slides in thru the lid.

With the old way, the diff's and t-case weren't bad, but I either had to pull the shifter, or use a funnel and a long hose to fill the trans on my 89. I change my fluids a little more frequently than recommended.

With two 4x4 trucks to maintain, this pump is a real time saver, and not as messy.

Wish I would have bought one 15 years ago.

Now when winter rolls around I won't have to keep the gear oil in the house when I have to change gear oil.

OK, I get excited over little things.

If your happy with it that's all that counts. Nice score.

x2 for the pump. They are crazy good help when laying under the truck trying to refill.

I did buy my first one 25 years ago and I am on the 3rd one.

I didn`t think it got that cold down in that part of the south:camp:

If you are on a budget they sell ones that screws on to a gallon jug .They look like a condiment pump for mustard with a hose. The biggest problem is the gear oil needs to be warm to work good. I have used one for years, but I want to get one of the good ones some day.

Wyoming9 it can get in the high teens here sometimes, not near often enough for me.

Swampfox I looked at those, and then made one, and it worked ok but took forever to fill a diff.
