affordable bender

i was wondering if anyone has used or has an affordable bender tube bender. i'm looking to get a bender on the cheap and i like the fact you don't bolt this style to the floor. but not wasting the money if its just gonna kink and crap out. any thought or info......???

just checked that bender out. looks great but for the bender and the one die i need is over 600 dollars... the affordable bender with the die is only 300

The affordable bender only comes with dies with 7" radius for 1-1/2 and 1-3/4 and only good for up to .095 DOM tube. not gonna look so good when you have to find another bender to bend a .120 wall cage or a .250 wall tube or a tighter radius.

I have it, and did use it to bend 1-3/4 .120 tubing. Worked well with no issues and it was not difficult.

I wish it did include more dies. I need to order the 1" die for another one of my crazy ideas. I forget how much additional dies are, but if you plan to bend more than a few sizes you are quickly at the price point of more expensive, and more inclusive benders.

Perfect for the home craftsman and weekend bender. Ahhhh yes, the 'weekend bender'. I haven't had a good one of those since Vegas ;)

Good luck.

gotcha, thanks. i plan to do everything on my rig in 1-3/4 .120 wall HREW tubing so the single die is fine with me...

peoples thoughts on the harbor freight 12 ton bender for 1 3/4 .120 not looking to set a land speed record build just want to bend some stuff to make an exo

RUSHTOY2 Jun 7, 2013 07:29 AM

from what ive heard the harbor freight benders kink the crap out of the tube and thats the only problem. i don't have one and have not personally seen it but thats what i've heard....

ok cool i think i can work around the kinks with some sand

RUSHTOY2 Jun 7, 2013 11:15 AM

i take it you saw the guy on youtube do that? haha it works i just think that would be a pain in the tail but if your willing to do that go for it. i think i would live with the kinks before filling every tube with the sand.

marcyorbust Jun 7, 2013 10:05 PM

lol yeah ill try it with out the sand first and see how it goes. when i get out of the stan and get to use it i will post what my results are

so i used the bender with out sand on 2" tubing for my rock sliders. works great just have to use the bending form 2 sizes to small. i used 1.5" on the 2'' tubing. worked great. will let you know on DOM when i do my cage.

subscribed. I would love to have a tube bender. post some pics when you can.

RUSHTOY2 Jul 8, 2013 07:31 AM

thats awesome. 2nd on posting picks when you can. what was the thickness of the tubing also??? i might go get one here soon if they work that well.

marcyorbust Jul 8, 2013 04:43 PM

it was thick tubing like .145 i think

RUSHTOY2 Jul 9, 2013 03:58 AM

ok. i wonder if .120 would kink in the bends....??? if you do it the way you have done it.....

marcyorbust Jul 9, 2013 07:17 AM

i dont think .120 will be a problem im getting ready to do a cage out of 1 1/2 X .120. i did modify my bender by putting 2 springs on either side of the die to pull the die and ram down after the bend is made. but i have faith that it will bend anything if you take your time and pay attention to what the steal is doing.
