Sedona, AZ - 3 Trails, 1 Day, TONS of pics!

Christian, aka <96Runner> and I planned a run up to Sedona at the last minute for a long overdue wheelin' trip. We ran Broken Arrow at about 9 a.m., then met up with our buddy, Smitty, and hit Soldiers Pass around 11 a.m., and then ended the day on Rattlesnake Gulch (off Dry Creek Rd from HWY 89A). I left Gilbert at 5:35 a.m. and got back home at 6:10 p.m...a VERY long day! Close to 300 miles of driving including trail time. So here's my pics...(Christian's images will follow)

Broken Arrow

Atop the staircase...

A few poser shots at Soldiers Pass...overlooking the Seven Sacred Pools which were more like the Five Nasty Cesspools

Yes, all 3 of the vehicles are e-locked and I know Christian and I both needed to hit that button multiple times to get up some of the terrain on Broken Arrow. It definitely takes your trail abilities to a new level - moving from a base model 4Runner with open diff!

Thumbs up More pics

Today was a lot of fun! I was long overdue for some wheeling. Great job on the pics Scott! Here are a few pics that I took:

Broken Arrow

Devil's Staircase

Smitty's Taco

Scott taking on a big ledge at the bottom of the Seven Sacred Pools trail...

Coming back up

Ending the day at Rattlesnake Gulch, aka. "Gas Pipeline Trail"

One of the descents on the last run. This picture doesn't do it justice.

I am also putting together a video which I will link here when I am done.

Great pics...my wife and I were in Sedona during the summer for alittle vacation...only had a rental car, so no wheeling for us. Just a bunch of hiking.

Wow, what scenery you have in Sedona! Your artful pics have me wanting to drive down to AZ to enjoy those trails first hand. Some of the steps/ledges seem to be close to the angle limits for stock Runners. Not to mention all the rubber that wheelers have left on the sandstone, and the fact that you frequently used your locker. What fun! Did your underbody plates get dinged on any of the obstacles? I'm stock too, and my plates are starting to get a little dented and scratched up, but I figure that's why they're there. Thanks for taking time to post all the pics.

I got one small scratch on my one-piece skid on the Gas Pipeline trail. I chose a line that was a bit more challenging and paid the price. It is just a minor scratch, although it sounded bad. I don't think any of us had any other carnage other than a rogue branch or two that gave us some AZ pinstriping.

Glad you liked the pics!

Yeah, funny you ask. Each of the 2 times I ran Broken Arrow (twice in the same week as a matter of fact), I had no problems of scraping anywhere along the trail. It was only on the way out, where I had to go over the rocky "speed bump" (barely visible in the pic below...just behind the Pink Jeep) that is supposed to deter low-clearance vehicles from coming in, that I slapped my rear end on it. Both times I banged on the rocks. I can't win...
