After a nice 3:30am wake up call on Saturday I headed to Phoenix to meet up with who ever was coming. Unfortunately, only one person showed up SOAZtim from Yotatech. We hung around for a bit then left.

Day 1:

The drive up to Sedona was filled with rain and lots of it. Reminded me of Missouri with the amount of minus the thunder/lighting, hail and tornado watches. We got luckly and by the time we got to Sedona the rain had let me, just windy:

Way up:

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...7/IMG_1115.jpg

Broken Arrow. There was no pink jeeps on the trail when we were there. I could see where a large group would have problems there are not very many pull offs:
It was to muddy and the rocks were pretty grippie despite the rain.

Steps at Broken Arrow (wasn't that bad):

Soliders pass is the only trail we meet a pink jeep on. As we were living someone in a new landcruiser (all decked up) tried to enter the trail but after seeing the ledge/obstacle he backed off the trail and parked :hillbill: :

Seven Scared pools at Soliders Pass:

That foam stuff was weird.

Oak Creek Homestead. It's easy to miss the trailhead on this. It's was fun trail until my rear end slid out and I slid off a ledge with my wheels turned all
the way to the right. My wheels were straight but my steering wheel was a little off, after the drop (um, opps).

The self road down and the old homestead:

I don't think were crossing this portion of the trail:

Back up the shelf road to the second enterance/exit. Well, maybe  .

Camp for the night and it was a cold one in the 20's. Ran across a neat little waterfall:

Camp for one:

Creek right behind camp (well not anymore)

Day 2:

Leaving camp:

Meet up with Jon and Jamie from TTORA and ran Broken Arrow again. I ended up leading this one. It was a good thing we ran it when we did because as we were leaving a number of pink jeeps were entering the trail. Meet one cool pink jeep guide though, who was surpised that we made the trail.
You can tell the difference in the photos from Saturday and Sunday.

Steps again. For me they were alot easier after running them before.

Overall, it was a great time and nice to great away from Yuma (wish I could leave more often:hillbill: ). No one got hurt and the vehicles preform fine (except for me). Next, time I'm up that way I'll be trying some more trails (Smiley Rock, Mingus Mountain) or mountain biking, which ever comes first:) . You'll more than likely see me on trails/runs similar to these.
Thanks for those who came and for putting up with a me.

looks like some fun trails...once I get a reliable engine in my rig I plan to take some trips like that!

sdstud212001 12-02-2007 07:47 PM

Nice pictures, I ended up having to work on Sat and I thought about you guys. In Flagg it was rain, snow, sleet, hail. Pretty bad weather but it looks like you had fun.

Elvota 12-02-2007 07:57 PM

Now I am really jealous. Weather is so rare in AZ, and pretty darn cool in Sedona. Not many have seen those creeks and pools flowing like that.

Looks like an awesome trip.

Impressive you withstood the cold and camped up there. :great:

I wish I would have made it. I'm going next week with an FJC group out of Cali.

I did get my kitchen plumbed and wired though, so my wife is happy now!!!

We did have some weather. In town, it snowed a little on Friday evening. Mostly rain below 8000 ft.

Sunday Morning looked like this from my driveway.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...s/100_1417.jpg

A buddy hiked up Humphreys (the peak on the right) on Sunday and he said there was 30" at the top (12,633') 24" at Midway (10,500') and 12" at the Hart Prarie Lodge (9,500')

Are Mogas and Elvota living together? It just seems a little suspect that they are both working on their "kitchen."
Haha.:jk: Hope you guys can make it next time. :hillbill:

I can now add a damage report to this thread.

Back end sliding out + wheels turned all the way to the right = jacked lower ball joints

Um, opps!:bang:
Still drivable just need to replace before the wear out my tires too much.

SOAZtim 12-03-2007 12:31 PM

well, I can mark down 5 or 6 scratches and dents from smiley rock, rocks! Thankfully, all on the skid plates!

Vermejo 12-05-2007 08:09 PM

Nice pics. Looks like the damage was well worth the trip.
