Prentice Cooper, TN. 8/25/2007 56K be ye warned
WE went up this past weekend, August 25th, 'we' being my PreRunner Group on GA TTORA. We actually have a pretty active PreRunner group, and try to make at least one run a month, This place is relatively hardcore for us, remember we are 2WD... but check it out!!
NOTE: All pictures taken ON TRAIL in Prentice Cooper WMA. Legally. Any questions or concerns about the pics, please, let me know. I'll be glad to clear it up.
As far as a review of this place... I think its my new favorite spot for our PreRunner Group. Thad walked through everything of course, but Kevin (stock 1993 Pickup 4WD) had a couple of harder spots, so it can be challenging for the stockers too! I say as far as the places our PreRunner group has been this one is (I cringe using this word, for all the I'm going to catch from some people) but this place is hardcore for our group.
Some really nice ledges and rock croppings to drop off of (and climb back up) There are a few places to get off camber, and Cody took the oppurtunity to make sure he lost his web wheeler status. As far as challenge levels for a Prerunner (or stock 4X4) you guys tell me what you think on a scale of 1-10. I think everyone hit or scraped during the day on the rocks, and just about everyone needed a Spot at one point or another.
Anyway - I know you guys, so on to the pictures...
First up Matt's Video, showing us one way to get up this set of ledges.... AND the quickest way to unpack a cooler.
Next up is Ed playing on the first set of ledges we came upon.
Heres Kevin's '93 coming down the same slope.
Here is me at the bottom of the ledges, dragging crossmember, (and thanking Thad over and over for the skidplates under my truck. )
Here is Ed on his way back down the ledges again
Here is Cody making sure we know hes more than a web wheeler!!
The Group Shot
Of course, Matt gets stuck trying to goof off at Lunch time...Right on the Diff.
Kevin on the last set of ledges
Cody on the ledges...Sliders Anyone?
Our Fearless Trail Boss Thad, making it look easy

Cool, next time you come up let me know, maybe I'll have one of my 4Runners up by then. There are some other places to wheelin' right around the Prentice Cooper area as well as down the road a little to Mt. Atena, unfortunately I'm not positive on the legality of Mt. Atnea or the other area down from Prentice Cooper,"Big Forks".
I'd say hundreds to thousads of people go to Mt. Atnea.
Just let me know. I got excited when I saw that there was some more Yt'ers that close to home!

That's awesome that you guy's are getting out, even if the rigs aren't built! I know a bunch of fellas around here that think they need the baddest rig out there, and won't go wheeling otherwise... Nice Pic's
