Pine Mtn./ Las Chiches (CA) 11/11/06

The local club I am in did some trail maintenance on Pine Mtn. saturday. We replaced a couple signs for the forestry service and picked up trash on the trail. We were supposed to sand and paint a couple picnic tables and benches, but someone had just used them as a ramp sometime this week and busted them up. These are the people that give us a bad name :chair:

There was a VW Synchro with us, and that thing rocked. Was cool to watch it on the off camber stuff. I took the opportunity to trail test my trailer, since there would be a nice group just in case it didn't go so well. The trailer did awesome. I was worried how it would do on the washboard roads, but it tracked perfect and didn't bounce around. Didn't affect the runner on the trail at all and I tried to find all the hard lines to give it a good test. I didn't get too many action photos because I either was in a bad spot to get out or it was raining, but hopefully some of the other guys got some pics. A few of us ran Las Chiches on the way out. Lockers would definately help on the hill climbs but I still made it through open pulling the trailer, so I am slowly gaining respect from the Jeepers in the group. I constantly get asked what lockers I have. Anyways here are some pics:

I was hoping to get some pics of the way the trailer articulates seperately from the runner, but no luck. I will have to take it out again and do some poser shots of it. It is cool to watch on the trail, the pintle swivels so you could actually dump the traile and not have it pull you over.

Nice pics. I just had my trailer off-road this past weekend on a family camping trip. I desperately need a pintle set-up for mine. PM me some pics of yours will ya'. I'm about to order some shocks and need to fab some towers for the install. My trailer hasn't let me down yet. Oh, and I did score a tarp finally.

Looks like a good time. I bet that VW was a trip to watch...next you will see a 4x4 Toyota van out wheeling.

Andy I will shoot you some pics tonight. Are you still fenderless on your trailer? Glad you scored a cover, makes it much easier to pack.

Marc, it was fun. I don't get to take many pics of the good stuff, these guys just blast on through everything and don't take many pics. They always look at my kinda funny when I get out and take a pic of my own rig. The synchro has at least a rear vacuum actuated locker on it, not sure about the front though. It was a trip to watch especially considering it is a full camper.

His name is Frank, you can barely see him behind the Jeep. He kind of looks like Santa Clause. He's one of those really cool old dudes. He knows all the trails around here and where they used to go etc.... He could probably drive all through the county without touching pavement if he wanted to. I think he has 3 or 4 different military jeeps.

Sounds like a different guy. I just remember this guy had an original-looking military Jeep like the one pictured, but I don't think he wheels which is why I asked.

Are you guys going to be in the parade tonight?

I think the vw is my favorite.

yes, we will be in the parade tonight. I still don't know if I am taking the runner or the new taco. If I take the runner I have to go buy a power inverter so I can run some christmas lights. Are you going to be down there tonight?
