Wow! great post. Thanks to avy for inviting me and posting the pics, and big thanks to Dave (craw4x4)'s girlfriend Laurie for taking them. You guys rock! :drink:
Next time I will have me some proper tires, and possibly 2.5 to 3" of lift, or so I hope. IT's too bad tom had to skip out early, I hope he sees the pics. Boy was his girlfriend (who rode with him) PISSED OFF! LOL :hillbill: Can't wait to add these full res shots (big thanks to dave for mailing me a CD no less!) to my underdecorated walls at home. :bigok: |

It wasn't till after I pulled him out did I realize that those hooks were not on too well.... Gonna Have to work on some mounting points Joe |

Hey For Very Stock, With Very Non-off-road tires, You did pretty Damn Well.
Hopefully the next time we go I too Will be slightly more lifted, I want to make it up that damn hill!!! a lift isn't going to help you get up a hill, dude. You need a locker. A front locker will help a lot more in getting up a hill. Trust me ;) That will help you get up the hill without tearing the hill up and making it harder for future people to climb. (it's all about smart wheeling and conservation ;) ) (lockright inside front=awesome) |
Nice pics, thanks for sharing! :bigok:

(it's all about smart wheeling and conservation ;) ) (lockright inside front=awesome) My belly Rubbed. I dented my gas tank skid, and my muffler. In this case Yes a lift would have helped me. But consider this. Both the T100 and 91 Pick-Up were not locked. Granted they weren't Lifted either, But I still think they have more clearance than a 3rd Gen with Rear Sag... |
I've been debating a lunchbox locker for the rear...
Especially since I should probably tear the rear apart and drain it w\ all that mud we did and no diff breather. stock out, AMSOIL in, etc. If i've got it open, why not stuff a lockrite in there... Plus you're also running AT tires and you were only at 25PSI, not 20. I have no doubt that, dents and all, Tom's elock'd limited could have made it up that hill (probably with a few more dents than you got!) end result: hill conqured, 4runner with dented skids, and one PISSED OFF GIRLFRIEND :bigok: edit: this is not meant as an insult to tess AT ALL :D she's a great 4runner. |

But what about the other 2? They weren't locked? They were at the same PSI as me. Tom would have probably had less dents. Remember that my frame is literally sitting on my axle due to sag, and a bunch of ☺☺☺☺ being in the back... Yeah his G/F was not enjoying the Ride some much... No Insult takin, Remember I was right there, but that little hump at the top and the front tires got lifted off the ground. If maybe i pulled my e-brake a little to try and lock up the rear, like I did on the trails the last time I was there, I could have made it. But I am talking, takin that hill climb without damage. Or a Locker. Then comes the question like Which came first, the chicken or the egg. Which should come first, lockers or a complete suspension and body lift, with 33s? |
Heh, finally caught up to ya'll I been working 2 jobs for the last 2 weeks and its been BUSY. Got a job working for AAA doing everything but towin.
Thanks to Avy and Dave for organizing the trip, and thanks to Laurie who got some excellent shots. That bronco that followed us needed a group so we let'em join in, one of the drivers (there were 2 guys and one of the guys gf in it) kept getting stuck, I pulled him out like 3x.. That thing had to weigh at least 6500lbs!! The 3.4L did it with ease. As for my hill climb, oh man that was fun! I swear the whole time me and Kody were almost about to crap ourselves if I rolled back again. B/c the first time out I didnt give it enough go and it stalled and rolled back lol.. It was easy the rest of the way. We had great times, even though Matt got hopelessly stuck and it took Avy some time to get him out while I was busy cleaning out my intake b/c I sucked in some water-no damage thank god!!! Getting that flat really sucked, no one wants to fix it b/c its in the sidewall. Gonna have to do it myself or swap my spare on to the reg rim cause those tires cost 125 bucks and are very uncommon. Hanook??? Who the heck uses those (they were brand new when I bought the truck!) Oh and Joe, dont worry a little bit of brake fluid was all ya needed man..thankfully your e-brake didnt lock up! Been there and done it, so I knew man. I was going nuts over mine one day! Matt, if your gonna do a lunchbox-nab a powertrax no slip locker (same one I will do soon) http://www.rocky-road.com/noslip.html about $400... and LSD will help and be easier to drive on the road with though as with a locker you will have to coast in turns and stuff. Overall very fun trip, we are gonna have to go again soon. SO whats our clubs name Avy? |
What A Great Time I Had
HEY ALL, I wanna say to everyone who was on this little day trip. It was great to meet and wheel with you all. I too am a noob when it comes to off roading , and I had a great time. For all the bad things i heard about having the 3. slow , I must say that I was impressed with it.
Laurie wants to say thanks for the props on the pics. it was her pleasure. My question now is , when can we do it again??? I'd like to try Rausch Creek next time , or maybe go somewhere else.Yes AVY I am trying to get that awsome XTRRA out in to the trails.:rockin: quoted from CJM "Overall very fun trip, we are gonna have to go again soon. SO whats our clubs name Avy?" WOW IS THAT WHAT WE ARE ASPIRING TO , A CLUB?? I'M DOWN FOR THAT. |
First off, nice pics, i wish i lived closer to that park! If you think your mud there is bad, try coming down here to GA where you have the nasty ,sticky, thick, red clay. This stuff gets everywhere! If your going to spend 400 for a LSD why not spend $511 for a full detroit locker? The road manners arent bad at all. I rarely hear it ratcheting, You learn how to adjust to it on the road, and best of all, it replaces the entire carrier so you dont have to worry about the little clutches inside the stock carrier slipping.

Yea, a club man. I saw we form one Dave, why not..
Now what to name it.. something yota or toyota in the name sounds good.. |
